Heathrow was founded in 1985 by Jeno Paulucci, an entrepreneur in the food industry. Once a source of celery for his Chun King Chinese-style food products, Heathrow was later developed into a golf-club community Paulucci would later describe as his greatest business achievement. By 2000, it had a population of 4,068 people.
The master-planned, private gated residential community is now home to the American Automobile Association. Along with approximately 2,200 houses, it also comprises the Heathrow International Business Center and has become one of the most exclusive communities in Central Florida.
